The Body Shop Haul

I used to love The Body Shop when I was younger. Once Bath & Body Works opened up in my city, I stopped going to The Body Shop and got sucked into the mega hype for the brand new store. I'm proud to say that I have recently rediscovered my love for The Body Shop brand! I am completely obsessed. I like their products better than Bath & Body works, as a  number of their products are made to help combat a problem and the scents aren't overwhelming. Their products just feel more natural.

I decided to order stuff online because my local Body Shop no longer carried the Raspberry Collection. I'm guessing the collection was seasonal? I love that scent so much! I really wanted to get the body mist/perfume of the scent but they were sold out when I went to place my order... I have, however, tried the body scrub (I might do a review of it sometime) and it is heavenly! It smells SOOOOO good and it exfoliates quite well.

Anyway, my parcel finally came in and I thought I'd share what I got. Getting mail is honestly the best feeling..

Also how cute is the packaging?! When I first opened the box, I actually squealed. I'm not even gonna lie. That's super embarrassing but it was honestly so nice! I've never received a package like this before! Some of the products were buried under the paper shreddings but this is kind of what it looked like when I opened it up. I was too excited to stop and take a picture when I first opened it... oops. For some reason I am just loving the shredded paper!

The Body Shop

The first product I got is from the beloved Raspberry Collection. I've always loved the consistency of The Body Shop's body butters. I figured if I mixed an awesome formula with a delicious scent, I couldn't go wrong.

To continue the raspberry obsession, I also got their Lip Gloss in raspberry and mint. I haven't tried them out yet but I think they'll be good!

My skin has been acting out more than normal recently, and I've decided to go back to using Tea Tree Oil to see if it will help get rid of and prevent future blemishes. I have used Tea Tree Oil before, but never from The Body Shop.

I find it does dry out my skin a bit, but it doesn't get horrendously dry. If you're struggling with pesky blemishes I would definitely recommend trying Tea Tree Oil.

I also splurged a little and decided to try out a candle. The entire site was 40% off so I thought it would be the best time to try out some new products. I also love when they do their Buy 3, Get 3 Free deal! Anyway, I've recently gotten into trying out candles and I find that I really enjoy the fresher scents. I ended up getting the Aloe and Soft Linen scent. I haven't lit it yet, but I'm planning on lighting it soon (hopefully tonight).

Lastly, I bought a spray that can be used on your body, room or linens. I got the Pomegranate and Raspberry scent. I was a little skeptical about this but, like I said, the whole site was 40% off so I decided to give it a try.

This stuff smells AMAAAAAZING! I can't even describe how good this smells! I think it might be one of my new favourite scents... It's just fruity, sweet, and fresh. Three things I love when it comes to scents! It's definitely perfect for Spring/Summer. The only negative review I've seen on this spray is that the scent doesn't last very long.

After using it a couple times, I have noticed that it does fade rather quick.. But it honestly smells so good, that I'd be willing to re-purchase this once I run it. It's simply amazing. If they somehow find a way to make the scent stay longer, I will be on Cloud 9.

So far I am loving the products I've tried! If you've never tried anything from The Body Shop, I strongly suggest you do! Their products are not only amazing, but their company focuses are superb as well. They focus on defending human rights, protecting the planet, supporting community fair trade, and they are against animal testing! Such an incredible brand!

The next item I want to try is there honey bronzer! I've never tried bronzer before, but I've heard that their bronzer is amazing!

Let me know what your favourite products are from The Body Shop! Any recommendations?

REVIEW: Clarins Colour Quench Lip Balm

I first discovered this lip balm when watching one of Estee's (essiebutton) videos on YouTube. I currently use a couple of Clarins products and after hearing her explain how much she loved it, I knew I had to give it a try. Being the impulse buyer that I am, I had to go out and grab one ASAP.

I apologize for the crappy photos. The photo above just looks a tad too dark... I'm still trying to get a hang on finding good lighting. I tried editing the photo to brighten it up a bit but it resulted in the balm looking darker than it actually is... However, I was able to take another picture that really shows off the colour nicely.

Clarins Color Quench Lip Balm

Thankfully, where I work sells Clarins products, so I was able to use my employee discount on it (you've got to save money whenever you can)! If I remember correctly, the lip balm retails for $21 CAD. I had a difficult time choosing which shade I wanted, but I eventually went with Candy Pink 03.

Time for the Review

I think it is safe to say that I have fallen in love with this lip balm! I love how nice the product feels on my lips when I first put it on. It's very moisturizing and makes my lips feel super soft. I personally prefer a more toned down lip, so I'm happy to say that the shade I got was quite similar to the shade of my lips, yet it still leaves a little bit of colour which is always nice. I guess you could say I prefer a more subtle look. I think if you go for a darker shade, you will be able to notice the colour more as they clearly are pigmented, but I don't think they are so pigmented that you can achieve a bold red lip.

When I'm feeling particularly girly, I definitely love a little bit of shimmer (who doesn't?!) but I don't like it when lip products are too shimmery or glittery. I personally feel it's a bit much (at least when they are applied to my lips). The shimmer bits in this gloss are noticeable when first applied, but after rubbing your lips together and evenly distributing the product, they become less noticeable. You'll notice a bit of shimmer once in a while but it isn't too overwhelming or anything. Like I said, I prefer more subtle shades!

Also, this stuff smells amazing! Seriously, I don't know what it is but it smells so good! It smells sweet like candy, so clearly the name for this shade works quite well with the scent of the product. It doesn't taste half bad either. If you happen to get some in your mouth, you won't be trying to get the taste out for a solid hour. That's always a bonus!

This is probably the worst swatch ever, but I really want to show what the consistency is like and what the colour looks like when it's out of the tube. The formula is rather nice and isn't sticky. And like I said before, it's a pretty subtle colour but I think it's a lovely shade of pink. It's definitely a colour you can where everyday.

So just to recap:

Pros

  • Nice formulation/consistency (not too sticky)
  • Easy to apply
  • Comes in 8 beautiful shades
  • Tastes and smells good
  • Perfect amount of shimmer
  • Hydrates lips
  • Can be used anytime and anyplace

Cons

  • May be a bit pricey for those with a budget (such as myself)
    • However, Clarins is a more luxurious brand than typical drugstore brands. If you take that into consideration it can be quite affordable
  • Might have to reapply if you're wearing it through out the day as the consistency isn't super thick

Overall, I would highly recommend the Clarins Colour Quench Lip Balm for anyone who is tired of using a chapstick and wants to kick it up a notch with a hydrating lip balm.

The next lip product I want to try from Clarins would have to be their Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector!

Have you ever tried any products from Clarins before? Have you tried any of of their Colour Quench lip balms? If you have let us know what you think of them!

REVIEW: Bioderma Sensibio H2O

For our first blog post, we decided to do a review of the highly hyped makeup remover/cleanser from Bioderma! We've both heard good things about the product and wanted to see if it was worth the hype. This was somewhat an impulse buy, as I (Amelia) went to the store to get a price adjustment on some foundation, and left with a gapping hole in my wallet.

Bioderma

If any of you are interested, I picked up the 500ml bottle from my local Shoppers Drug Mart for around $25. I can't remember the exact amount I paid but it was definitely worth it when compared to the smaller bottle. The bottle also came with a free sample of their Anti Redness Care and a $3 off coupon on any products in the Sensibio line. So if you've been contemplating getting this for a while, like I have, now is the time to do so.

Time for the Review

Overall, we both enjoyed the product.

Pros
  • Quick and easy to use
  • Refreshing
  • Effective make up removal
  • Fragrance free (perfect for those with sensitive skin)
Cons
  • A bit pricey
  • Can be drying for those with dry skin (Nicksferd felt her skin felt a little dry after using it as a cleanser, as she had no make up on when we tested the product)

I have read a couple other blogs that have reviewed this product, and they mentioned how it can take the place of a cleanser. I can see how they would feel this way, but personally, I felt it was good for refreshing the skin and removing make up. However, I would not replace my cleanser with the Bioderma.

Overall, we would recommend this product as a make up remover but not as a cleanser (at least for those with combination skin) because it didn't feel like a deep clean. It is rather expensive but if you're feeling the spurge, we encourage you to go for it!

Let us know what you think! Have you tried the Bioderma Sensibio H2O? If so, what are your views on the product? We'd love to hear from you!

Here Come the Delicate Asian Beasts!

Welcome to our crib!

We've both been wanting to make a blog for the longest time and we finally decided to create one together. But before we get into any technicalities, let us introduce ourselves. In the photo below, Amelia is on the left and Nicksferd is on the right.

We want to blog about things we love: travelling, food and beauty products. Most of our posts will be about where we've been or hope to visit one day, food we love, recipes, and reviews on beauty products. That being said, we're kind of all over the place. (As we are typing this, Nicksferd is stroking a horse plushy's mane and tail...) As you read our blog, you will come to see that we are quite weird and have an acquired sense of humour (hence our blog name).

If any of you are confused with the name, allow us to break it down for you. We were having troubles coming up with a name so we decided to google 'how to come up with a blog name' (sad we know). One site suggested we brainstorm some topics we wanted to feature on the blog and then use a thesaurus to come up with other words relating to the topics. They also encouraged us to incorporate words that explained who we are.

So to simplify it:

Delicate = beauty aspect
Asian = who we are
Beasts = our love for food

Thanks for checking out our blog!

Signing off,

XOXO

YaoMing and PF Chang (again, our strange sense of humour)

**Disclaimer: the overwhelming presence of absurdness may be due to our lack of sleep, stress from spring courses, and the fact that it is late right now... Most of our posts won't be this weird.
